AIFF (Audio Interchange File Format) is an uncompressed, lossless audio format developed by Apple, storing sound at full quality with no compression. It is the Apple-world counterpart to WAV and is common in professional recording and editing. Because it is uncompressed, AIFF preserves the detail needed for high-quality processing such as source separation, at the cost of larger file sizes.
