Bit Depth
The number of bits used to represent each audio sample; higher bit depth means greater dynamic range.
Bit depth is the number of bits used to store each individual audio sample, commonly 16-bit (CD quality) or 24-bit (professional). A higher bit depth captures a wider dynamic range and a lower noise floor, leaving more headroom for processing. It is distinct from sample rate (how many samples per second) and from bit rate (data per second in compressed formats).
