Endpointing
Detecting when a speaker has finished talking so a system can respond or stop recording.
Endpointing is the process of detecting the boundaries of speech, especially when a speaker has finished, so a system knows when to stop listening and begin processing or responding. In voice agents, good endpointing is key to responsiveness: cut off too early and it clips the user, too late and the interaction feels sluggish. It works closely with voice activity detection and turn-taking.
