Far-field
Speech or audio captured at a distance from the microphone, where noise and reverb are bigger problems.
Far-field refers to audio, usually speech, captured at a distance from the microphone, as with a smart speaker across a room or a ceiling mic. Distance weakens the target signal relative to background noise and room reverberation, making recognition and enhancement harder than in near-field capture. Far-field conditions are a common challenge for voice assistants and conferencing.
