Scaling CrunchLabs Videos Worldwide
Mark Rober’s CrunchLabs produces some of the most-watched educational and science videos online, with each video reaching millions of viewers worldwide.
As CrunchLabs expanded to new platforms and international regions, the production team faced a common challenge: much of their archival content had fully mixed audio, limiting their ability to adapt, localize, or repurpose videos efficiently.
CrunchLab’s team wanted to:
- Dub past content into new languages
- Remove copyrighted music when licenses had expired or were unavailable for international release
- Repurpose and reformat existing content for different platforms or promotional formats
To achieve this, CrunchLabs needed a way to separate fully mixed audio—including some new footage with multiple layered sounds—into dialogue, music, and effects. Without access to the original stems, these workflows were slow, resource-intensive, and risked compromising the original sound design.
CrunchLabs turned to AudioShake for production-grade sound separation. Using AudioShake’s music removal and stem separation technology, the team was able to:
- Remove commercial music from existing videos, producing cleared versions suitable for sponsorships, brand partnerships, and platforms with strict copyright policies
- Isolate dialogue, music, and effects to localize videos into other languages while preserving the original sound design
- Unlock archival content for re-edits or alternate formats across multiple platforms
By integrating AudioShake into their workflow, CrunchLabs streamlined production, expanded global reach, and preserved the quality and emotion of their original content—without the need for re-recording or manual remixing.
