“Duets” by Andrea Bocelli, released by Decca Records, is an album collection of music celebrating the renowned tenor singer’s over 30 years. On the release, Bocelli features iconic duets with artists like Shania Twain, Chris Stapleton, Gwen Stefani, and Hans Zimmer. Notably, it includes a duet of Notte 'e Piscatore with the late operatic legend Luciano Pavarotti.
The album was released in Dolby Atmos, a spatial audio format that uses stems to position sounds around the listener. However, since the original track was recorded live in 1995, these stems weren't available for this project.
To overcome this, Decca turned to AudioShake, whose technology isolated both the instrumental and the individual vocal tracks from the live recording. Allowing them to hear Bocelli and Pavarotti sing the song solo, for the first time. These stems allowed Decca to remix the duet in a spatial format, paving the way for the album’s release.
In the summer of 2024, Andrea Bocelli performed his duet with Pavarotti live at Teatro del Silenzio, using the remastered stems to sing alongside his late friend. This performance was filmed for Andrea Bocelli 30: The Celebration, a concert film released in Fall 2024.
