LFE

LFE (Low-Frequency Effects) is the dedicated bass channel in surround layouts such as 5.1 and 7.1, carrying deep, non-directional low-frequency content to a subwoofer. It is the '.1' in the channel-count notation and is handled separately in downmix and delivery specs.
