Downmix
Combining a multichannel mix down to fewer channels, such as 5.1 to stereo.
Downmix (or fold-down) derives a lower-channel-count mix from a higher one, most commonly 5.1 to stereo, using defined coefficients so surround content plays correctly on stereo and mono devices. Delivery specs often require correct downmix metadata or a dedicated Lt/Rt fold-down.
