LUFS

Standardized unit for measuring perceived loudness of audio, relative to digital full scale.

LUFS (Loudness Units relative to Full Scale) is the broadcast and streaming standard for measuring how loud content actually sounds to listeners, as opposed to raw peak levels. It underpins loudness targets like -23 LUFS (EBU) and -24 LKFS (ATSC), letting programs, ads, and platforms be normalized to a consistent level so viewers don't reach for the volume between segments.
