Spectral Mask
A filter that selects which parts of a spectrogram belong to a given source, used to separate it from a mix.
A spectral mask is a filter applied to a spectrogram that determines which time-frequency components belong to a particular source and which to suppress. Many source-separation models work by estimating a mask for each source (vocals, drums, dialogue, and so on) and applying it to the mixed signal to isolate that element. The quality of the estimated mask largely determines how clean the resulting stem is.
