Spectrogram

A visual representation of audio showing how its frequency content changes over time.

A spectrogram is a visual representation of sound, plotting time on one axis, frequency on another, and intensity as color or brightness. It shows how the frequency content of a recording evolves moment to moment, and is produced by applying a short-time Fourier transform to the signal. Spectrograms are central to audio analysis and to many source-separation models, which operate on this time-frequency view of sound.
