Track

A single recorded or arranged lane of audio in a session or deliverable, and a common word for a finished song.

A track is one lane of audio in a recording session, an editing timeline, or a delivery file, for example a vocal take, a dialogue line, or a channel pair inside a broadcast master. In music the same word also names a finished song, so a release is a set of tracks even though each of those songs was built from many tracks of its own. When the original session tracks are lost or were never delivered, source separation recovers the individual elements from the finished mix as stems.
